The Lagoon Cushion has many possible uses and combinations. It can provide support to the upper extremities both in lying and seated positions. Placed on the lap, it can support the shoulders, elbows, wrists and hands in a neutral, midline position and promote functional upper extremity movement while the client is seated in a chair (wheelchair or recliner chair) or upright in bed.
It can be useful in controlling subluxation of the shoulder by providing support to the upper extremity by reducing the negative effects of gravity and associated pain. The cushion can also be used to provide pelvic and trunk support during active sitting activities (at the side of the bed) or on a commode promoting positioning for bowel/bladder function.
Alternatively, the cushion can support smaller individuals sitting in a large or unsupportive chair promoting stability and alignment and reducing potential destructive posture. In prone, the cushion can be used to provide support to the thorax and reduce pressure on internal organs. The shape of the cushion is suitable for neck positioning for those with limited head control tending to fall into a position of forward and lateral neck flexion or for those who require stabilization of the neck due to fractures or intubation. The weight and stability of the cushion provide a calming effect for those with sensory challenges or agitation.
The Lagoon Cushion can be used in conjunction with NTG02 Eclipse Cushion to support upper extremities in supine lying. For additional neck and trunk stability the Lagoon can be supplemented with NTG15 Lagoon Cushion or NTG10 Reef Cushion.

Our Positioning Cushions feature a waterproof, stretch PU cover designed for wipe-down disinfection in clinical settings. To ensure product longevity, safety, and performance, follow these cleaning and disinfection procedures:
Cleaning Procedure
Step 1: Remove Visible Soil: Wipe away spills, dirt, or organic matter using a damp cloth. All surfaces must be visibly clean before disinfection can be effective.
2. Disinfect: Use a soft cloth and a hospital-grade disinfectant wipe. Do not use hard surface cleaners or products with abrasive ingredients, as they may damage the cover.
3. Rinse: Wipe the cushion with a clean cloth dampened with water to remove all disinfectant residue. This step is critical—residual chemicals can compromise the cover's biocompatibility and accelerate material degradation.
4. Dry: Use a dry cloth to fully remove moisture before storage or reuse. Wet fabric is more vulnerable to wear and tear.
5. Important Notes
Do not machine wash or submerge the cushions in water.
Do not use hard surface cleaners or disinfectants formulated for floors and countertops
Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or stiff brushes
Do not use yse concentrated bleach or undiluted disinfectants
Do not use alcohol concentrations above 70% or alcohol-based aerosol sprays
Do not use the cushion if the cover is torn, punctured, or visibly damaged
Storage
Store cushions in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
